Deniz Yuret is a professor of Computer Engineering at Koç University in Istanbul working at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory since 2002. He received his B.S., M.S., and PhD at MIT working at the MIT AI Lab (1988-1999) with Patrick Winston, Marvin Minsky and Boris Katz. He later co-founded Inquira, Inc., a company commercializing question answering technology (2000-2002). He has worked on supervised and unsupervised approaches to syntax, morphology, lexical semantics and language acquisition. His most recent work is on grounded language acquisition and understanding. To facilitate his research he has developed the Knet deep learning framework in Julia.
