The 9th edition of the Machine Learning and Data Analytics Symposium (MLDAS) took place on February 8–9 at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, co-organized by Qatar Computing Research Institute and Boeing ✈️
This year’s theme was Safe and Sustainable AI, and brought together nine keynote speakers including Eric Feron (KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology)); Moustafa Youssef (The American University in Cairo); Hai Phan (New Jersey Institute of Technology); Baochun Li (University of Toronto); Mykel Kochenderfer (Stanford University); Divyakant Agrawal (UC Santa Barbara); David M. (University of Central Florida); Liam Kruse (Boeing); Mourad Ouzzani (QCRI); Carl Henrik Ek (University of Cambridge), and more alongside panel discussions and poster sessions from students and junior researchers.
QCRI researchers presented work on Arabic AI platforms (Mohamed Eltabakh, Kareem Darwish), large language model safety validation (Dorde Popovic, Husrev Taha Sencar), AI supply chain security (Mohannad Alhanahnah), robustness (Sara Al-Emadi), and geospatial disaster response systems (Ahmed El Fekih Zguir) — reflecting the breadth and depth of our applied AI research. Since its founding in 2014, MLDAS has served as a vital bridge between academic research and industry application. We look forward to continuing to grow this community!
